Former Liberal Bee Jay Ross Kivett is the Big 12 Player of the Year. Kivett led the powerful Kansas State offense to a Big 12 championship this spring. Tyrone native and former Bee Jay and Saint coach and player Darin Thomas led his Texas-Arlington Mavericks to the Western Athletic Conference regular season championship. UTA is 30-25 and finished 18-9 in the WAC. He is in his sixth year as head coach at UTA. Bee Jay fans can join your favorite current and former players in this year’s souvenir program. The Bee Jays are beginning their booster drive. All you have to do is donate 25 dollars to the BJ’s and have your name in the program. If you have a family, you can have each member of your immediate family entered into the program. The Liberal Bee Jays expect to return at least eight players this summer. If that expectation holds true, that will be the largest number of BJ’s returning in a long time. The Bee Jays expect to see outfielder Tanner Rainey, infielder Jake Barrios, outfielder Ryan Schilhab, outifielder Chris Miller, pitcher Justin Schnedler, pitcher Ray Ashford, catcher Dylan Delso, and pitcher Trevor Lundgrin.
